There are two areas of consideration and
information:
(A) Low Income Renters
(B) Property Landlords
(A) FOR LOW
INCOME RENTERS...the Section 8 H.U.D. (Housing and Urban
Development) program provides assistance for low income families
in the private rental program market through the Housing
Assistance Payment Program (H.A.P.). Rental voucher holders select
a unit from the private rental market. Rental assistance makes
housing affordable. Normally, program participants pay no more
than 30% of adjusted monthly income to rent and utilities costs.
The H.A.P. subsidizes the balance of the rent to the property
owner. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT THE SOURCES LISTED BELOW.
(B) FOR PROPERTY LANDLORD
INFORMATION VOUCHER PROGRAM....To have your unit rented by
(to) an assisted family, the rental unit must meet H.U.D. Housing
Quality Standards (H.Q.S.) Fair Market Rents, and comparable
market rates.
