| This was an early effort to identify and fraternize those who had served in the Army, on a State by State basis. These members fought in the Civil War, and in the Indian Wars. This continued on a loosely organized basis, until 1919, when the Veterans organizations formed that we now know as the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, etc., as an aftermath of the Spanish American War, and WW I. | ||
