Acting as Master of Ceremonies
was GE Aviation's Director of Engineering Systems, Don Eenigenburg.
A $1 million grant by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation,
along with a nearly equal amount infused by GE Aviation, helped to
renovate (for the second time in the past 5 years) and expand the
building. |

Speaking on behalf of MTU was
President Glenn D. Mroz, who addressed the benefits for MTU and it's
students, a number of whom will work as interns and/or part time
employees, working on software development, verification and
validation, mechanical design, and hardware design, for the

And last, but not least, a
ribbon was cut, symbolically opening the new facility. GE Aviation
originally started operations in the Smart Zone facilities in the
Portage Campus building in Hancock. |
