Two Finnish Delegations Visit Hancock
An official delegation from Hancock's Sister City in Finland, Porvoo, arrived in Hancock on Monday, July 16th, 2007, for a 4 day visit. Shortly after arriving, the two visiting dignitaries were feted at a dinner get together at Gino's Restaurant.

Following the dinner, the group was entertained by the Soumalainen Sisters, who, although from the Copper Country, now entertain throughout the Country.

Visiting the area at the same time was the Toldboys Old Timer Hockey Team, who played several games against the Copper Country Old Timers at Michigan Tech's Student Development Complex Hockey Arena. Here, on Tuesday, they gather prior to taking an evening boat cruise on the Keweenaw Waterway, out to Lake Superior.

They were joined by members of Finlandia University, and other friends in the area.

The Hancock City Council, with visiting Porvoo, Finland representatives. It was a week to renew old friendships, and make new ones, with the visitors from our Sister City, Porvoo, Finland. As always, the time was too short.
