Dr. Ubbelohde gives the Welcome
and Opening Remarks to the packed Paavo Nurmi Center. Notable items
in Finlandia's growth during his tenure, include becoming a
baccalaureate degree-granting University, major technology
improvements, a new Chapel, expansion of the Maki Library, and the
acquisition and opening of the Portage Campus. |

This large sign on the wall
denotes the positive attitude of Finlandia's emerging sports
program, and for Finlandia in general. Finlandia now supports 13
men's and women's athletic programs, and has grown over 60% in
enrollment during Dr. Ubbelohde' watch. |

served as Finlandia's President for 16 years. He wil be taking up
residence in Wisconsin in his retirement. |

He was given a standing ovation
upon finishing. In a recent statement, he said "We here at Finlandia
are fortunate, in heritage and contemporary partnerships in Finland,
to be able to learn from the 'Finnish Model'". |
