2006 "Salt Boat" Arrives in Hancock
The second of two salt deliveries totaling some 27,000 tons, arrived on October 19th., at the Mattila Dock in West Hancock.

The conveyer belt delivery boom system gets ready to unload its cargo. A Canadian ship delivered a first load earlier of 15, 000 tons. The salt will be dispersed to road commissions across the western Upper Peninsula.

The boom conveyer delivered 12,000 tons in just several hours, creating a pile nearly 80 feet high.
