2006 Bridgefest Celebration
The 19th annual Bridgefest Celebration was held the 16-19th of June, in conjunction with Rotary's Seafood Fest.

Once again leading the Friday night parade is the Alfred Erickson Post 186 Color Guard unit. Seafood Fest this year served meals on Friday and Saturday only, with a special gourmet dinner served on Thursday evening by reservations only.

Saturday morning found a number of anglers out on the Hancock Boardwalk, for the Childrens Fishing Derby.

Also in the morning, the start of the 16 and 32 Km. Bicycle Races, with the start in Houghton, carrying then up 30 stories on Hancock's Cemetary Drive onto the Massto Hihto and Churning Rapids trails, and into the Sweedetown Gorge.

Also, on both Saturday and Sunday, was the Bridgefest Volleyball Tournament, at the Hancock Waterfront court.

The Rotary Seafood Fest is also under way, with the Rotary Pavilion busy with food preparation for the many hungry visitors.

Saturday afternoon was Seniors Day, at the Hancock Porvoo Park, with food and music, as well as dancing.

And just down the shore, a Beach BBQ and Battle of the Bands at the Ramada Inn for evening entertainment. Unfortunately, recurring thunderstorms caused a cancellation of the Saturday night huge fireworks display, a first in the Celebration history.

Sunday's activities included a motorcycle display, with one of the organizers, Dennis Cleary, showing his bike.

And a first, a pig roast, was held at the Ramada Inn along with music, and the jet ski display and races. Join us next June for the 20th annual Bridgefest Celebration.
